Building Communities Through Art
The Lovegrass Music Festival Association is a non-profit organization that aims to promote the bluegrass arts in our rural Kansas communities, enhancing the quality of life for all. Our mission extends beyond this as we strive to provide shared cultural experiences and partnerships to make a significant economic impact on our local communities and beyond. We achieve this by hosting year-round music events in our region, culminating in an annual three-day festival on the second weekend in August at the beautiful Lake Wilson State Park.
Regional Tourism and Economic Impact
Over 1,100 music enthusiasts attended the annual festival at Wilson State Park in 2023. Participant demographics indicate a significant representation from Northwest and North Central Kansas residents, with 41% of attendees hailing from the region. A considerable amount of tourism is also generated during the festival, with 28% of festival-goers visiting the region from Northeast Kansas, 20% from South Central Kansas, and 10% from out of state!
Not only is the Lovegrass Music Festival rapidly becoming a popular tourist destination, it is also a major contributor to regional tourism. Post-event surveys indicate that 80% of festival-goers visited a nearby cultural attraction in North Central Kansas during the weekend. Additionally, 90% of survey respondents reported spending money during their visit, indicating a significant economic impact on the region during the festival.
